John attended a webinar sponsored by StickMinds and Rally. The focus of the training was how to integrate testing in Agile development teams. John recently was assigned to manage a group of testing resources in Novell’s Data Center family of products that are developed in Provo. John’s responsibilities still include the ZENworks product family, and the Endpoint Security product, but will also include a couple of products under the PlateSpin name as well.

John recently attended a training on methods of coaching employees. The tactics included identifying ways people communicate, listening, and providing feedback.
John recently created a series of technical training classes available to all Novell testing employees. The sessions are hosted either by John, himself, or other interested parties. Some of the topics at the most recent trainings include: Selenium, Bash Scripting, Python, and Firebug.
John was invited by BYU to come and host a networking dinner on campus one evening this week. John brought along his wife and together they fielded questions from a table of current BYU students. Novell recently held a global company Quality Summit. John was invited to provide a 90 minute session on testing and development tools. He opened up the session to several groups around the company to provide “teaser” demonstrations of tools used in their organizations. The session was labeled a great success.
John attended at training on Novell’s latest ZENworks Application Virtualization product. He is now responsible for using the product in conjunction with Novell’s internal ZENWorks Configuration Management initiative that he spearheads.
